Started by Tori Hinn as part of a degree project at Rhode Island School Of Design in 2013, the 'Women Of Graphic Design' blog aimed to both highlight and circumvent what Tori considered to be a huge imbalance in the curriculum.

Although the department at RISD where the project began was 71% female, only 6% of the designers featured in their Graphic Design History class were women. A pretty big discrepancy, no?

Of course there's men that have drastically impacted the history and field of graphic design, no one could ever deny that, but Tori felt it should also be acknowledged that just as many women were making waves beside them.

So the blog began.

Now curated by both Tori and Kathleen Sleboda of Gluekit, 'Women Of Graphic Design' celebrates the work of female designers kicking ass and taking names in their creative fields. It's a fantastic collection of work.

Today, in preparation for International Women's Day on the 8th March, WOGD are teaming up with Women's Design and Research Unit to host a 48 hour twitter project with the theme of 'inspiring change'.

What better way to bag yourself a midweek pick-me-up than shining a light on your most favourite creative lady-folk? To champion women who have inspired change - perhaps through projects, teaching or mentoring - just use the hashtags #womensday and #graphicdesign.
